250ml Vegetable oil
1 Egg yolk
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbl White vinegar or lemon juice
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Sugar
Optional seasonings: salt, pepper, mustard, garlic powder, lemon juice.
Method:In a 250ml Consol Glass Preserve Jar, add the egg yolk, Dijon mustard, salt, and sugar.
You can use a handheld blender or immersion blender for this recipe, or you can also use a regular blender or a food processor.
Start blending the mixture on low speed while gradually pouring in the vegetable oil. This is important to emulsify the ingredients properly. As you continue pouring the oil, the mixture will start to thicken and become creamy.
Keep blending and pouring the oil until all the oil has been added and the mayonnaise has reached a thick and creamy consistency. Make sure to blend for an additional 30 seconds to ensure everything is well incorporated.
Add the white vinegar or lemon juice and blend for a few more seconds to combine - this will give the mayonnaise a tangy flavour.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed - you can add more salt, sugar, or vinegar according to your taste preferences.
Store the mixture in a 250ml Consol Glass Preserve Jar and refrigerate for 30 minutes before consumption.
This will help the flavours meld together and allow the mayonnaise to set.
Remember to store it in the refrigerator and consume it within a week for optimal freshness.
